Post Falls Police and kNIFVES join forces

“kNIFVES (Northwest Independent Film and Video Entertainment Society) is giving aspiring film students a shot at immersing themselves in the action this weekend, when the nonprofit will offer a mentoring workshop during the shooting of a PSA for the Post Falls Police Department.

‘We have mentors who have worked in the industry for years, decades,” said Lazerus, president of the film industry group. “Students will get the chance to be on camera, on dollies. They will help with lighting and actually help with the full production with hands-on experience.”

And while they’re doing all that, they will be supporting local victims of violence.

Tickets for the workshop, which cost $25 for non-members and $20 for members, will cover the cost of the PSA, which kNIFVES is writing, casting and filming for free to educate the public about the PFPD’s domestic violence hotline.

“PFPD would probably pay $5,000 or so to have this kind of production done, and we’re doing it for free,” Lazerus said. “It’s a wonderful cause for the entire region.”
